Today is a day of finishing samples…. This quilt was designed after a visit to Denver and I photographed a poppy head…I love the shape and it lends itself to multi blocks in wonderful Kaffe Fasset fabric….
However, in this class students learn to design their own blocks and put it into this format…..
I have sculpture quilted the border, using the fabric as a guide…. it gives texture to the quilting…
I made a design mistake however. The sashing needed to be heavily quilted to match the rest of the quilt… I used multicolored thread…. and it looked horrible…. so I just colored it in with a Tsukineko pen…. there is just a hint of color in the sashing now…
I used several different forms of machine appliqué… satin stitch and blanket stitch….
That is a great quilt, love the block design.
Thanks Helen…. it is a nice block…. and really easy to do…
