I love history and today for a short time I was able to spend a little time immersed in the events of 1st July 1863. The Battle at Gettysburg.
I took a two hour tour of the battlefields and admit to getting a little lost as the strategy of the 4 day battle was explained. Standing on the battlefield where some 300,000 young me were killed in just a few days was an eerie feeling. I could imagine, the color, the sound and the sadness…
It left me a little reflective for the rest of the day.
It was a beautiful day… sunny, warm and a gentle breeze, not unlike the weather on those fateful days some 107 years ago….
No quilting today… but tomorrow I’m off to find the Gees Bend quilts so stay tuned…..
