Review of a couple of Quilt Shops – Aunt Annies

Yesterday was busy and we visited two quilt shops that are always on my list of "To do’s" when I’m here in Long Prairie.

Aunt Annie’s is a quilt shop in the small rural town of Avon MN, it’s about 30 miles from LP.

It’s a bit hard to tell it’s a quilt shop from the outside… unlike the highly decorated shops I see in some towns… Aunt Annie’s, is quite understated, but the exterior doesn’t reflect the interesting things inside..

Lucy Senstad, artist and owner of the store has  wonderful eye for color. I have always found different fabrics there. Yesterday I cradled some
hand colored  silkworm cocoons…. the colors just glow. I noted some wonderful black and white prints…. a must for the art quilter, lots of batiks and some of Lucy’s own discharged fabrics…
There’s a huge range of "fresh and original"  fabrics including African, Australian, Japanese and Lucy has a small gallery of her own quilts which are wonderful and reflect her artistic style.l

I can’t find a web page…. but if you’re in the area pop in and visit.

I get to visit to a lot of quilt shops…. and Aunt Annie’s is one of my favorites….
