No Sewing today, just planning the next tour….. USA, France, Britain, Russia, Thailand…..
So I will have lots to share, lots to tell you about quilting in those countries.
In England I will teach in Birmingham, at the big quilt show, then take a 12 day tour around Britain on a cruise liner, teaching. Tough.
It's like working out an army maneuver really.
Today I felt like a fish out of water.
I took Tilly to her swimming lesson.
OK, I've been there before with her Mother…. On that occasion, I didn't have to do anything but just sit there and watch the action.
Today, however, one mum actually thought I was Tilly's Mum.
I thought how different things are now….
Swimming lessons were at school and during the holidays for my kids.
As for me, I never took a lesson… My mum sent me to lessons, I had to take myself, I had to travel on a hot train with dozens of other smelly kids….I hated it and sat on the sidelines and pretended that I had done the lessons and I just made up stories…. "My Father is a Vet" etc, etc.
What a waste of time and energy, I could have been home drawing at the kitchen table and listening to "Portia faces life, a story for those who have loved and been loved" my favorite radio soapy.
So today, I watched women and 1 man immerse their tiny babies under water and then throw them high in the air whilst singing nursery rhymes…
It was all a bit much really…. Tilly in the meantime was doing "laps"
She's 3 and can swim, I'm in my 60's and sink.
I was instructed to shower Miss Tilly and wash her hair in the change rooms… which I did….. however, I turned around and the room was full of naked women changing…. Good Gracious, I nearly had a fit…
I was in such shock I went home and had a pasty for lunch.
I think that's the end of my swimming adventures…!!!
How fabulous! Bit scarey with all those bodies everywhere! Glad to hear Tilly can swim though. AND what better way to finish your trip, with a pasty, of course!
Can’t wait to hear your next lots of adventures O.S.
Yep, it’s gong to be sensational…. lots going on…. and Keith will be traveling with me for 7 weeks.
If you are coming to NEC Festival of Quilts in Birmingham, I’ll see you there.
I will be indeed, look me up.!!!!
