The Rhino.

I've been working on the Rhino….
I actually wasn't sure if I liked him, but he's growing on me.
When I begin a project like this it quite often just evolves… I didn't really know where it was going to take me.
Was it going to be bright fabrics…? was it going to be fanciful…. was I going to illustrate it…. Gees, I never know…
However, yes, it's evolved into an interesting piece….
I'm enjoying creating pieces of fabric using the inks on pre existing fabrics…
In particular, I was worried about creating the side part of his tummy….. but in fact it was quite easy… there is a lot more to add to it, but I'm rather pleased with the effect. You can just see a hint of circles in the fabric and I was able to add them with brown pen.

The legs are both heavily illustrated… so they will take a while to do.

Your rhino is amazing. I’ve loved following the progress as you have worked on each detail. I have to say that the painted toe nails are my favorite part.

Thank you for showing us the progression on your rhino. He is very interesting and I love all the “extras” you are putting in – the illustrations.

Your Rhino is absolutely brilliant. I love what you can do with fabrics and thank you for sharing how you did the eye. It is so realistic.

  4. Your Rhino was one of the few pieces I photographed at festival – I just loved it! Many thanks for sharing!
