Quilt Finished – Journal to Quilt.

I began by quilting the the door quite intensively. I wanted a lot of detail.
I used Masterpiece thread by Superior, a 50 weight cotton. The brown in the background is a little lighter than the color of the fabric, because I wanted it to give some movement to the piece.
The swing doors are quilted on every rung.

The rest of the quilting is done in black thread to give achieve a sketched effect.
I like fine thrad, fine needles so I'm using a 60/8 sharp and working with a freemotion foot.
and the feed dogs remain up.  I'm drawing with the thread.

The rest of the quilt follows the illustration in the journal, Naive and sketchy.

I used black thread on the back of the quilt… I like to see the quilting impression.

The fabric on the back and in the binding is Kaffe Fassett. I wanted to add a little frivolity….
