I purchased this watercolor painting in St Petersburg.

In fact, it's a naive painting of people celebrating pancake day.

The people are in a traditional log house and they drinking tea from the big urn on the table cooking, food in the oven, you can see the traditional earthen ware pot being lifted from the oven.

The lady at the top of the painting is laying on a quilt on a bed built into the top of the oven.

The long piece of stripped fabric is traditional piecing…..

This is one of the traditional cushions found on the seats in Russian Cuisine restaurants.
