Thoughts and process.
I've shown you the process of making my own fabric for part of this block…. in post No 4.
A piece of fusible web (steam a seam lite) was fused to the back of the image.
I drew the bird onto white dyers muslin with a mechanical pencil and I began to color it in with Derwent metallic pencils… the grey colors were perfect.
Then it was colored with prisma colored pencils, they are quite waxy and I can get a soft effect on the fabric.
I worked through the sand color, added the white and then added the grey over the white.
The image was cut out and ironed to the background. You can see the background through it because the fabric is a little translucent, but I like that effect.
Free motion applique catching the fabric right on the edge holds the image down. Then I switched to an open toed foot and completed the rest of the background of the quilt.
The 6" square to frame the image is a zig zag. 3.00 Sw X .30 Sl and I also added a straight stitch either side of the satin stitch, just to give it a neater appearance.
So Carolyn Honey….. block No 2. Completed….!!!!

Two blocks!! Are you trying to get ahead here?
I love your use of colour. The bird is beautiful and where did you get all the envelopes from?
Carolyn
Nup… only one block, the envelopes are the back !!!!
