Christmas is over.

Christmas is past.

It's quiet and peaceful and the day has been glorious. It was one of those summer days that you just don't want to end.

Yesterday, (Christmas Day) was full of excitement, children, emotion and the unexpected.

One member of our family ended up in the emergency room and we had 6 anxious hours of waiting, emotion and anticipation.

Things are better today and in a way the day has flown by because we are in a more relaxed state.

The antidote to a frightening situation is to create and I came out to the studio and finished the sample quilting piece for the Rhino.

I'm leaving it as it is.

The final results for marking is to use the washout pen. It's faster to apply, it's easier to see when I'm quilting. My main concern is that when applied it's a thicker line than a pencil. However, I sewed down the centre of the drawn line.

I had to wash the piece several times to get the purple liner out…. I thought I had achieved that but when it dried I found some had come through to the back of the quilt.

It was also harder to rub out the pencil lines…. just not what I was looking for.

Interestingly… the 12 inch block ended up 11 1/2" after quilting.!!! so I can't use it for my challenge… and besides I figure I really need to do a Christmas block.

What a beautiful design. Your orange fabric is yummy. Will the rhino fair well with repeated washings? I hope your family member is continuing to do well.
