It's pre dawn, still dark and everything is quiet, so with little distraction I can now put down in words why I was unable to express myself last night.
There are times in your life where you begin on a journey and you never know where it will end.
A commitment to giving my name, time and energy to this community here in New Mexico last year has had a deep affect on me and I'm thrilled with the results.
The fabulous organizing group held a pot luck tea last night. We shared ideas and congratulatory dialogue and delicious green chili…..
The final wrap up…. goodness, $10,000 was generated, I could hardly believe it…. and we hope it will ensure an annual event to continue the idea that –
"Quilting can make a difference – just for the asking."
The ladies made me a visual diary with photos and words, notes from the participants, organizers and bank staff…. and I will treasure it for ever.
They know me well…. I also received a fabulous bright orange hand bag and a new journal to take on my travels. Thank you, thank you, Thank you.
Congratulations on the successful event. Is there any way others can help (without acturally being there0? Is there a website that we can refer to for addresses and items needed, or about the next Festival as to when and where? I know there may be interested quilters here who would like to help…..
Your commitment to helping make a change for this community reminds me of the saying about giving something and receiving it back 10-fold. If we all could focus more on giving in some way, shape or form, the world would be a better place. Thank you for sharing your vision, photos and feelings.
There are more riches in life than money and I think you have been showeresd in them. What a wonderful gesture in return for all you have done for this community.
For it to turn you speechless just speaks volumes!
Lynn, what a great thought… YES, I have forwarded your comment to the other members of the group and we will look at that idea. We will have information up soon.
Thanks so much
Sally, thanks for that…. you know, we have so much… I personally count myself very lucky.
People gave to me when I began, now it’s my turn…
Chris, I just turned up and taught…. the group did all the hard work and I was so impressed by the young people…. they worked so hard….
