I got the the airport early yesterday…. 1.00 pm and my flight left at 6.00, so I was 5 hours early.
No problem, the luggage was tagged and I went up to the club to work.
The flight was OK, 7 hours and effectively we arrived here at about 2.00 am NY time.
But my baggage didn't follow me….. NO BAGS.
OK, it's happened before with American Airlines…it generally arrives on the next plane… I was a little anxious as you can imagine, so anxious that I left my backpack at the luggage counter.
I was 5 mins into the airport and then I remembered…. I had to go through a huge security check to get back to luggage…My bag was there.
Mrs Holland why don't you wait for the next flight your bags should be on there….
So I waited in the baggage control for another hour….no baggage…
OK, so it meant that I could purchase a ticket and get to my hotel by train…
It took an hour and a half to get to the hotel and I felt like I'd been hit by a train….I talked again to the lost baggage, checked online and still no record…
So I showered and slept….. It's now 5.30, no news of my baggage. I'm sure it will turn up…. hopefully before I leave England…!!!!!
Between your own travel, your baggage’s travel (to who knows where….or not) and your quilts’ travel, I guess I am less envious of your world travel recently and more appreciative of my minimal trip to Atlanta and back than I usually am. I’m relatively sure everything will get sorted out in the end. Sending positive vibes your way just in case they can help….
Oh Pammy,
I’ve been talking to that baggage fairy telling her to get cracking. Tell me when she gets the job done.
Carolyn
Hi Pam…..We just returned from our trip to the Scandinavian countries and left Gatwick Airport to return home. We flew on Virgin Airways……wonderful experience and our baggage, thank goodness, arrived all in proper order. It was stressful to think about missing it in one place or another. So sorry our airlines aren’t the best anymore. It was a treat to fly to England directly from Orlando! Missed reading about your travels. We will be leaving for Michigan in September and I will check with the Ice House to make it there to meet you. 🙂
Hi Pam – I don’t know how you do it. We are around the same age and I know I couldn’t handle all the stress that comes with flying anymore. I love to read your blog. Except I do worry about you sometimes. You take care and have a safe trip. Nancy P.
I hope by now your luggage has caught up to you – I love your honesty and your blog.
I was wondering if you would share with us how long you have had your ‘shed’ and what did it take to bring it into being.
Thanks and good travels,
Nancy….. yep, I must admit that It gets to me at times… luckily… I bounce back quickly….
