Aussies Rule

The day is over….whew!!!

Rachelle Denneny from my home Guild won the $7500 award… (third award) but I was so excited I can't remember what the award was.

Rachael with another prize winner Pat Holly.

We won second with our joint quilt… so we are chuffed…

All of the quilts were wonderful, I believe the judging trend was rather traditional, with very few pictorial quilts selected in the winners.

Rhino and Bayeux didn't make the winners list… but I'm not surprised with the standard and the judging theme….

It was such an exciting night… I'm so thrilled for Rachelle and I know you gals at home will be jumping for joy….

Sharon Schamber won BOS and  6 other Aussies were in the winners circle…. Jenny Bowkers quilt is just lovely….

Pam, I am beyond excited for all of you! Two South Aussie prize winners! And Jenny Bowker too – she is a magician with fabric too. How lovely for Rachelle. What an honour for her. She has so much quilting time ahead of her and what an amazing incentive that would be.
I have dined in the presence of quilting goddesses.
I have to admit I am amazed the Bayeaux didn’t take out something but I think it’s time is still coming. It will receive recognition in a different area and will become an important part of quilting history. I know it is now deeply embedded in your history.
The rhino will remain my favourite though. He is just glorious!
Enjoy the rest of your time and congratulations to yourself and Rachelle again.

Oh, how exciting for you all. Congratulations to all the Aussies! I’m sure I am not alone in saying how chuffed we at home are for you all!

    Fiona, thanks so much…

Congratulations to your group on winning a second. Nice to see the quilt in its entirety, having only see one lady when you brought her to visit Gay when she was in Chatswood.

Thanks so much Chris. The Bayeux looks a little lost on the floor…. they shifted it to “Pictorial” quilts…. somehow, they don’t understand.
