Catastrophic fire warning in southern states
Friday December 31, 2010 – 07:30 EDT

The bureau says a cool change will reach Adelaide tomorrow after the temperature reaches 41C – ABC
Emergency services in South Australia and Victoria are bracing themselves for the worst as potentially dangerous weather conditions threaten to spark bush fires.

I stayed close to home yesterday, I stood by my "shed" prepared to evacuate with my quilts, cameras and computers….

In other parts of the country there are devastating floods and I know many of you are in incredibly cold conditions overseas.

It's New Years day right now, and we will be organising the swimming pool today. I had a quiet New Years Eve working in the shed and supervising Miss Tilly who flitted in and out like a fairy.

The temperature has dropped from the 100's but will get up into the 90's later in the day. I'll be back on the sewing machine and finishing some editing.
