What’s happening to the world?

What's happening to our world?

As I write, the Country of New Zealand is in shock and disbelief.

This afternoon a 6.3 magnitude earthquake ripped through the city of Christchurch, 100's of people are missing, over 60 people are confirmed dead. The city has been evacuated and there are terrible scenes being broadcast through the media.

The quake hit in the middle of the day when streets and buildings were full of people.

We are just stopped in our tracks as we watch the drama unfold.

Still coming to terms with the earthquake that rolled through in September 2011 the area has once again been subject to sheer devastation.

We feel so helpless.

This is so hard to take in. I agree about feeling helpless.
Having recently been flooded I know my greatest fear is that it rains again and we have to face the situation all over again.
The people from NZ are now facing that worst nightmare and will now not be able to console themselves with the thought it was a one-off event.
How do you regain any sense of normality after that?

So scary and sad for the people of NZ! Natural disasters are so psychologically difficult to get past. Does it feel as if there have been more disasters over the last several years or is it just that we have more communication around the world to hear of them? Hope there are no more aftershocks. Thanks for posting the video, Pam.

I can feel their pain – and I am unable to help. Sometimes knowledge is uncomfortable.

I can’t imagine how terrifying it would be to experience something like this. The sirens in the video brought back the emotions I felt when watching the 9/11 videos.

On 9/11, I was on my knees in front of the TV-I live one hour from NYC. Today I couldn’t kneel but I could still pray. That’s what the whole world needs now. I really believe that.
