My Big Fish Quilt in process.

IMG_3842
This is how the quilt began late last night.

The background fabric was sandwiched and then I fused the cut out fish onto the  quilt. I had to shift the pins on some occasions.

I was anxious to see what it was going to look like so I stitched a few lines through the centre of the quilt.

There is no need to applique the fish down, the muslin and the quilting hold them in place.

I'm quilting rows about 1/8th  -  1/16th and sometimes 1/4 of an inch wide across the width of the quilt.

It's actually a bit scary, I know I did the small quilt but this quilt is 5ft X 4 ft… it's hard to get the picture in my head as I'm working.

The images of the fish are a different perspective to the Big flat fish… so that's a problem… however. I've added them to the bottom of the quilt, they are sewimming aroun in the darker area of the fabric, it looks like they are below the viewer, so if I was swimming I would be looking down on the fish and at eye level I would see the side of the flat fish…. smaller ones are up the top….

The flat fish has to appear at eye level so it is going to be placed on the top portion of the quilt.

I'm going to quilt the entire background and then the flat fish will be appliqued over the top of the quilting !!!! It will add texture to the fish I think….

I'm still not too sure if it will work…

It it doesn't I'll use this for something else…!!!!

As the kids wold say….OMG! This is going to be an incredible piece. The issues of the perspective make my brain hurt. Many problems for you to solve but you are handling them well, as usual.

    Gayle, it’s a challenge… I don’t know if it’s going to work out… but I enjoy the process.
