A quilt Journey

A photo at a market in Brisbane captures the imagination…. the color, the shape, the composition.

Which inspires me to do a journal sketch.

Which, in turn gets converted to a painting in my Ipad.

It gets printed on fabric because I'm testing a new type of fabric. I select the colors, and sandwich the quilt.

And I begin a new quilt.

This time it will be done differently…. free motion zig Zag.

I'm using the open toed free motion foot and feed dogs up.

and begin. OK, the fabric is working well…. Test results  (not bad)

I'll finish it tomorrow…..

Pam, I have two technical questions. Firstly, what fabric are you printing onto? It appears to have an interesting weave and the results are great.
Secondly what app are you using on your ipad to create the painting from your picture? I recently got an ipad and am looking for a good photo app but it’s had to tell what is good and what is not from their descriptions. (Happy to have any other recommendations of must-have apps too)

Chris, I used sketchme to change the photo….and actually the program has put the texture onto the fabric print…. then I can follow it to stitch.

I will give it a go. I love the result – when I can get to my sewing machine I will try some embellishing too. It’s an achievable project in a short time frame and looks like such fun.
