Goodness, it's late and I need to go to bed.
However, its been a lovely day. Thanks everyone.
At lunch time I walked the floor and it was absolutely packed.
I think there are about 400 booths, so it would take a day or so to see everything… then there are the quilts!!!
Of course I took lots of photo and you will see them eventually. But I'm going to share the work of Therese May.
I love her work.
This quilt is called Om-Ma, Therese states "I was inspired by the idea of a flowing cloak as well as the words "Om Ma", which is a meditation blessing Mother Earth."
Om-Ma began as one of my puzzle interchange quilts. After the piece was quilted I felt it looked incomplete on the wall, so I cut the bottom corners off to shape the quit into something resembling a garment. I embellished the curved edge with pearl beads and then wrote in paint "Om Ma" over the surface as a prayer for myself and others involved in the creative process – a prayer to trust in and to unfold to allow the unfolding of life as it is.
The day ended with a previewing a wonderful documentary made last year on the journey of three quilters and their individual stories as they prepared their quilts for Houston.
I will get a copy tomorrow.
Then there was a reception where we were able to let our hair down… Quilting is not all work.
I wish I was there, but there’s always Houston in November. (I hope to take a class with you then.)
Wow what a quilt!!
Thank you again, Pam, for an absolutely wonderful and inspiring class today in Cincinnati. You are a kind and generous teacher with both your time and your techniques. I feel so fortunate to have been able to see your beautiful work in person and take a class. Safe travels to you….
Hi Pam, I read about this doco. sounds very engaging. I wonder can we get permission to show it at guild? Guess it would depend on how widely/easily available it is and of course how long it runs. Candy
Sally, thank you… you all did extremely. I appreciate your comments.
