Take a walk through the city of contrasts.

This is just a small part of what we saw yesterday afternoon…. the serenity of the hotel and the churches and the cacophony of sound at the demonstration… right outside our door.

Leaving Mexico city.

Past the volcano that erupted yesterday…. and we arrived in Oaxaca at about 2.00 this afternoon.

It was very hot when we arrived but the countryside is green and lush, quite different to Mexico city and San Miguel Allende.

Our hotel is located just a block from the Zocalo. (central square).

The Zocalo was abuzz with noise. Loudspeakers, a band, banners, flags and thousands of people.

We couldn't work out if it was a demonstration or a celebration.

So we joined the throng…. right there in the middle…

You can't point the camera at anyone, but you will notice my photos are taken from a distance. We sat in an open cafe and I tasted the amazing hot chocolate so famous in oaxaca.

Suzanne, glad you liked it… I was able to snatch the photos quite quickly, no time to compose because people here don’t like their photo taken….
