Best of Show at Houston

I've just got back to the room and it's 11.34 pm but I wanted to send this tonight.

The artist who made the Best of Show Quilt is Sue Mc Carty of Roy Utah with her wonderful quilt named Harmony within.

The anticipation was huge, we waited with baited breathe and it bought back memories and a lot of emotion.

Sue, bless her looked amazed and a little overawed with the camera flashing and the attention focused on her. It's well deserved, her quilt is wonderful.

There was an air of excitement as the crowds gathered around her quilt straining to get a view.

I need to sleep now, but I have lots of images for tomorrow.

Ming Hsu, from our home state and a town quite close to ours won best Machine Quilting… Ming, I don't know you… but your quilt is fabulous. I'll take a lof of photos for you in better lighting.

Remember when you won Best of Show and there was so much fuss and celebration until all of a sudden it was all over and we looked around …. and then had to get that giant cheque and flowers(that I held for you and people were coming up and congratulating me lol) onto a shuttle bus to take us back to the Hyatt???? How funny was that!!!

That is a truly spectacular quilt by Sue. An award so richly deserved. I remember the quilt by Ming Hsu at AQC and last year’s SA Quilt Show. I took several photos of the quilting as I was awestruck by it. How wonderful that it was recognised at Houston.

Congratulations to both winners – can’t wait to see all the photos. Remember the excitement of the 1776 growth – from seeing the center panel on your first visit – to the photos along the way – showing the 1776 throughout Arizona, New Mexico and Nevada on our Thelma and Louise trip – the scary feeling of posting it in Las Vegas – and that wonderful call saying
you had won!!!! I’m sure you are remembering and sharing with this year’s winner…….
