I found my light box.

Keith and I visited IKEA today, I needed more storage boxes and a small book case for my Bayeux books and files.

To my surprise and delight, I found my light box. !!!! Yay.

It is 56 " long By 28" wide and 3" deep, pretty close to my specifications. It's actually a desk top. I don't need the legs because I want to put it on the table.

The top is 1/2" glass and I can put things under the glass for storage. (see the pens and scissors etc.)

You can see a division line half way down which effectively divides it into two under the glass.

In fact I only need to use one half as the light box,  the main reason for having the length was so I could lay a long pattern and corresponding fabric in a straight line.

Up to now my main light box is on a bench top and it is 2 ft X 2 ft. The pattern and the quilt hung down down either side. Now I have bench and table support for either end of the project.

Up to now, I've stood the entire time I was working on the project, now I can sit at the table… (I've been practicing this evening)… it's everything I wanted.

In future I can add more lights if I need them. But it will sit permanently on my table and be a new work desk. It was a fabulous find.

Pam, this truly is a fabulous find. I am so happy for you. I have located it on the IKEA website. May I trouble you further to explain your light sources?

The lights are from Ikea too. Strip lights in stainless steel casing.
The link together so I can shift them around.

IKEA will sell out quickly of these tables and have no idea why!

I decided about a year that that Ikea tabletop would make an excellent light-box, I just haven’t done it yet. Wonderful to see it in action and know it works. I just have to decide which table-legs to use.
