In Adelaide, South Australia we have a Fesitval of Arts.
It's known as Adelaide Festival.
There are so many things I want to participate in, but I have to schedule the time.
At Guild last week our president had been invited to the opening of the Embroiderers Guild exhibition and she gave a wonderful account of the event.
The theme was "Medieval embroidery" and I know there were some re-creations of the Bayeux Tapestry there, so I attended.
I wasn't able to take photos sadly.
The embroideries were outstanding, very traditional and there were a large variety of styles.
The embroidery at the Guild here in South Australia is vastly different to the ones I've seen in the British Isles and the USA. The style there tends to be more relaxed and flamboyant, not detracting from the techniques.
To my delight, he execution of the re-creation of a small part of the Bayeux Tapestry was wonderful.
This week I have writers week and a more events to attend so I have to let a few things go and 'live' with it.
So pleased you enjoyed the Bayeux Tapestry techniques used in the interpretation of the south coast of South Australia. Hugs
