I was walking to breakfast this morning.

"ZAP"…. I was hit by an idea…..the more I think about it, the happier I become…. (not that I'm unhappy) but its a momentous decision.

I need to share it with the family first and then I will share it on the blog.

It will be cutting edge for me…

I  went to a very informative lecture last night.

The Art of the Shawl:
Adornment, Status & Ritual.

I wear shawls and scarves all the time. Many of my shawls are hand made and decorated and when I wear them it feels like  I'm wrapping myself in art. The art of an unknown creator.

Such was the lecture last night. Beautiful wedding shawls made many years ago were displayed.

Picture a young man a woman visiting a rural dwelling, possibly with a mud floor,  there is no electricity or the fancy studios we so desire.

The young couple are deciding on a wedding shawl, and the most important thing is the descriptive edge that will be macrame-made after the body of the shawl is woven on a back strap loom in this small dwelling.

Words of love and devotion are created with cotton and remain as a testament to the wedding of this young couple.

We might pass this shawl by if we saw it in a shop, but isn't it wonderful to learn the stories behind the creation.

I'm just going to walk today…. I'm so excited about my new idea.

Oh Pammy, keeping us in suspense!! As to shawls, I know just what you mean. I spent a couple of months knitting a shawl for my new grand daughter. I knitted love into every stitch and now every time she is wrapped in it she is wraped in love.
