Hints for Houston.

First of all, I think you need to be here at least 5 days.

The city itself has lots to offer.

The restaurant opposite the Hilton is called the Grove and is nice for a meal in the evening…. it gets a bit noisy but on the whole its worth a visit.

I like to get out of the Convention Center for lunch and sit in the sun. The cafe behind the Grove, (waterpark) I think its called has the best hamburgers and sweet potato fries at a very reasonable rate.

There are fountains for you to play in if you feel the need, and on Wednesday there is a free blues concert at lunch time.

Wonderful, this is all situated in Discovery Green Downtown's premier green space, it encompasses 12 acres and is surrounded by the George R. Brown Convention Center, hotels and downtown sports arenas.

Our other favorite restaurants are

Mia Bella Trattoria, 3 blocks away. Good food good service.

House of Blues, 3 blocks away.

Guadalajara Del Centro, 4 blocks away and of course Benihanas near the Hyatt hotel.

The shuttle from the Hilton will take you there. This is a must during your trip.

If you need to go to the Galleria for a little shopping therapy. You can catch the bus opposite the Convention Center. $1.25.

Bus 81 or 82.

Talking of Galleria,

French Riviera Bakery & Cafe has the best tomato soup in the world. I forgot to mention that you will get good coffee in a REAL CUP 🙂 and you also get REAL SILVERWARE and REAL PLATES, I had to mention this, because in most cafes I have been to here I only get paper mugs and plastic plates.

If you have more time, catch the train, (5 blocks from the Convention Center) to the Museum of fine arts.

Get out at the Museum district and spend the day.

Mary Cassatt, Children in a Garden, the Nurse.

You will not be disappointed.

Then the most essential piece of information I can impart. There is a lounge selling 'real' coffee, just 4 doors from the Hilton on the left hand side opposite the Embassy suites.

OK, there you have it…..!!!!
