I photographed quite a few of the quilts today. Apologies for my bias on the genres of the quilts. I like the new and innovative and of course pictorial is my happiness.
As I walked on those plush red carpets today I was prompted to think just how lucky we are to have this festival. Karey Patterson Bresenhan and Nancy O’Bryant Puentes we thank you for giving us this fabulous gift.
Its a great time to visit the quilt exhibition during Market, most people are buying and selling and the Quilt pavilion was empty. We did a little of the buying stuff. (of course) we need to make our contribution.
Each year, I’m astounded at the innovation of the quilt exhibitors. Trends come and go and there seems to be a lot of thread painted quilts this year.
My humble observations see more machine pieced and quilted quilts from Japan, and not as many quilts from Europe (other than their exhibition)
Oh, Pam! These are so beautiful! I love them all but especially the fence and the balls. Wish I was there!

Beautiful! It is interesting that you picked those quilts to highlight… I was in Newport, OR last week and saw those floats. The wood boat with glass balls is now in Seattle part of Chihuly’s Garden and Glass permanent display. I visited it this summer and took similiar photos. Now inspired to acually try to do something with them!
