The best laid plans.

The best laid plans of mice and men,
Who on earth said that…. what does it mean?

It comes rom Robert Burns’ poem To a Mouse, 1786. It tells of how he, while ploughing a field, upturned a mouse’s nest. The resulting poem is an apology to the mouse:

But, Mousie, thou art no thy lane [you aren’t alone]
In proving foresight may be vain:
The best laid schemes o’ mice an’ men
Gang aft a-gley, [often go awry]
An’ lea’e us nought but grief an’ pain,
For promised joy.

The poem is of course the source for the title of John Steinbeck’s 1937 novel – Of Mice and Men.
I have every day planned  to fit in the amount of work needed to be done in a short time.
Ha, It all began well today.
I figured I would spend and hour and a half getting my new phone and do the supermarket shopping…. wooow try 5 hours. 3 hours alone were spent just upgrading the phone…

My head was spinning, I was thinking of the work I had planned to do today and it was flying out the window…I tell myself slow down, slow down, but to no avail.

2.00 pm I sat at the machine, ‘ring ring’ and a breathless phone call from Keith (my husband) conveying the news that our son had badly injured himself at football and needed to go to hospital…. so the rest of the day was spent with delightful grandies and texting for the latest news.

But the good thing of the day was time I had with the little people and photo ops. Big brother Harrison stayed inside to watch the Disney Chanel.

Donkey Diva No 1 was  put aside  and No 2 is on its way to completion. I’m quilting it from the back and experimenting (will I use the sweet 16)… I think I should.
