It’s inevitable, this day, the 31st of December 2014 has rolled on by without ceremony and we enter a new year. 2015.
I don’t know, the years seem to flow a little faster these days. On the other hand I think I’m busier than I’ve ever been and 2014 has been a testament to that. I’ve been writing contracts for 2015 for some time so I’ve had plenty of practice and I think I know the layout of the coming year pretty well. 2015, 2105………However, there are always surprises that seem to appear without an announcement. At times we are held ransom by things beyond our control and the plans get put on hold for a while.
I have a huge list of things I want to achieve this year and I’ve already put the mechanics in place to get me there. I’m very enthusiastic.
As my farewell to 2014, I share my delight in color.
In the video, you will see a lot of red, Orange and turquoise. We, as Textile Artists use color and texture to create emotive art for others to share.
Colours have always been emotional for me. (that’s why my studio is adobe red and turquoise.) I really didn’t pay much attention to the idea until the past few years.. so I find it a very interesting subject.
Red: Excitement, energy, passion, love, desire, speed, strength, power, heat, aggression, danger, fire, blood, war, violence, all things intense and passionate, sincerity, happiness (Only in Japan)
Turquoise symbolizes calm. Teal symbolizes sophistication. Aquamarine symbolizes water. Lighter turquoise has a feminine appeal.
Orange: Energy, balance, enthusiasm, warmth, vibrant, expansive, flamboyant, demanding of attention.
Emotions: Blue is seen as conservative. Red is power and aggression. Brighter colors such as yellow and orange represent warmth not only with emotions but also with temperature. Cool colors are blue, green, black or any color with a dark shade. When someone is feeling down or depressed, it is said they are feeling “blue.” When someone is angry they “see red.” When someone is seen to be afraid or “chicken” they are called “yellow.”

Pam, dear one, I hate to say, but the more years one gathers, the faster and faster time seems to fly. There’s a saying, “Time flies when you’re having a good time.” I’m sure you know who the famous illustrator Mary Engelbreit is.
