After a rather stressful day yesterday, I’ve been able to relax more today. The sun is out, the wind has dropped and the pall of smoke blanketing everything yesterday is nothing but a light fog. But it’s still dangerous, the heat is building again and the fires will burn for many more days. Our leading fire official stated today “no fire service in the world could have put this fire out” so we wait till next week and hope the weather is in our favour.
I keep thinking its Monday…. No, its Sunday and it is a day to relax a little. I’ve done my self-regulating 6 hours on the Bayeux and I’m about to begin another project this evening.
Right now I have concerns for our little dog Ralf, he’s over fourteen years old and is almost blind and very deaf. He just doesn’t seem right, so its a visit to the vet tomorrow.
He’s tiny, very much loved and very gentle.
I’ve found myself wanting to capture his image over and over in the past few days.
Bless him. He has his own antique quilt, it’s an old cutter that I was saving, but he loves to sleep under it.
We sit, side by side and this is my old quilt. One of my favourites. Of course you say, its orange (Pam’s color) It’s not just that. First of all I bought it for just $30. The lady who made it used the brightest orange fabric I’ve ever seen and then combined it with feed sacks.
I love the combination of colors and I sit under it whenever I’m relaxing or watching TV (even in summer) These photos were taken as we both took a break from the emotion of the past day and early morning work in the studio.
I would love to know who made this quilt. I treasure my collection, I love them with a passion, they give comfort to all who use them. This one is just tied with horrible pink stuff. I was going to quilt it, but then I decided that it would be taking away the gift the maker gave to me.
Bless her hands. Her legacy lives on.

Lola, we packed and stayed. We had others come and spend the day with us… the cars lined up in the driveway ready to go if instructed.
It’s sad to read your posts the past few days. If I were a neighbor I’d be part of your bucket brigade, carrying water in a line to douse your yard and nearby property to keep your home safe. Bless your little dog, he looks so peaceful as he sleeps. I love seeing your beautiful art and am greatly inspired by all you do. Be safe, be blessed!
