I’ve had quite a few requests to add more about my appliqué method… to be honest its probably the same as everyone elses but I do have a lot of images on my computer so I thought I would add that so that its self explanatory.
The pattern drawing is done with a black pigment ink pen onto velum, (a thick translucent tracing paper).
I number each individual In this case there were about 60 people.
Reverse the pattern to trace the image onto fusible web.
I use steam a seam lite (single) and trace the image on the tracing paper side with a a mechanical pencil. I may have to resort to Steam a seam 2 in the future because I can’t see that they are making the single one again.
I really like these scissors they are called Friskars sof tgrip and I have 4 pairs, one at each work station. Someone has used a pair for something unimaginable and they have a big chunk out of them, but I will buy more on sale. Bless them.
Cut cleanly on the line, the fabric hasn’t been washed so you should get a crisp edge.
Turn the pattern to the correct side. (right side up) and this is just a tiny teflon sheet, bu I begin to assemble each piece on the sheet. Press.
This is a small section assembled.
I store each person in a baggie, lots of bodies and bits.
Once the entire quilt too is assembled and ironed down. I begin to illustrate it with pigment ink.

Have seen you do this before, but still find it fascinating.

I was just about to ask this question in a later post and saw this post and this helps! Thanks for sharing, One question have you considered or tried Misty Fuse? Just wondering if that product would work or not.

No, I’ve not used misty fuse I stick mainly to steam a seam lite. I guess Misty Fuse would work too.
