I had a wonderful day in the studio today. I was joined by friend Stuart Hillard from England. Poor Stuart, he  thought he was going to sit in the studio and watch me work, but I thought maybe  we could collaborate on a project. This is the first time I’ve had one of my peers work with me and it was an absolute joy. We talked and worked most of the day. We both got the appliqué top to quilt readiness.

I took my favourite section of a group of soldiers from the Bayeux quilt and we  created a small appliqué quilt. I’m not sure how Stuart is going to appliqué his, so it will be interesting to see the finished quilts.

This pattern is 949 years old.  We both chose very different fabrics and it was it was so much  fun.

I’ve been working on a few projects today.

The second Sockittome sock. I should get it all illustrated tomorrow and I have a few things to share about the project, I’ve had questions about the availability of the pens,

I’ve finished the drawing for the Zebra project. When I work on something this large, its impossible to print out the pattern so Its drawn on fabric and that becomes the pattern. However, I enlarge the areas that are going to be difficult, the nose, eye and mouth area.

It will be done in the ‘Geraldine giraffe’ genre plus, but I will have to do it as I travel. Yes, I have added the copyright to the image. Its my photo and drawing and its come to my notice that a few people have been using my images… you know I don’t mind if they ask permission but its a bit  much when they just ‘take’

This background is Cherrywood fabric. I use it a lot, The pattern on the fabric is really complicated not straight forward like the giraffe, so it will be a challenge, but that’s what I really enjoy.
