Oh my goodness I’m overwhelmed by the response to my blog on Grief. It wasn’t meant to be an  ‘I am‘ moment, but rather, ‘It’s happened, we experienced it and what now‘ moment.

The book I wrote during that time is a testament to all I shared with you. And yes, it changed my life and filtered down through our family in a very positive way.  It doesn’t diminish the sadness and I think everyone at some time of their life experiences loss and grief in one way or another. Rather it heightens the realisation that  we are all human and its part of life and we should celebrate each day.

An excerpt from the book.

As I work on the quilt, I give way to  thoughts that go back to 1776. I’d love to know who designed the quilt – was it a soldier, far from his family and loved ones? Did working on the quilt give him some comfort? How many uniforms went into making the quilt? Close inspection shows that the background was pieced an patched in almost every block and border. Were the uniforms old ones, or could they be the uniforms of comrades who died? Where did the needle and thread come from? Did they go to war toting needle and thread? Did they sit around the camp fire each night and work on the quilt as a group, or did one driven individual make it?
