I have a day of travel ahead of me, 2 flights and a road trip. The first flight is already delayed an hour and it means that I only have 11 mins to get the next flight. Right, that’s not going to happen. So I leave here with an uncertain day ahead.
One arrives with a certain amount of luggage and I go home with more supplies so I’ve been juggling weights this morning, I do it in silence, no distractions and just methodically go through the motions… how many times have I done this.?
Yesterday afternoon I decided to clear the mind and take a walk along the coast to Pacific Cove from Asilomar. It was warm and sunny and it wasn’t too long before I took the jacket off. The waves rolled in, seemingly suspended in the air for a second crashing and then crashing in a crescendo of sound and spray onto the black rocks below. I got sand in my sneakers and I was too lazy to take them off… I passed, seals resting on rocks, numerous sea birds, an otter was playing with a big wad of seaweed, ground squirrels visited with me and artists captured the scene.
It’s a long walk, about 6 miles, but the scenery made it worth while. I’m not going to make a quilt, somehow I’ve lost the passion for creating a landscape quilt, but I appreciate the fact that I’m on the other side of the world and have been given this amazing gift. The opportunity to be here in this environment. I never take it for granted.
Google maps showed me a faster way back to the Conference grounds and after a meal at a Thai restaurant and a good coffee. It took just 25 mins to return.
Beautiful pics!
Thanks.
