Travel affords me time to see things differently.

“We don’t see things as they are, we see things as we are in a different world”

We carry with us a ‘bag of belonging’ our emotional state that is challenged by totally new experiences.  Something happens when you travel, small issues often become magnified into huge problems and on the other hand, at times, I’ve thrown caution to the wind and not considered that I was in a dangerous situation when in fact, looking back I indeed was.

I’ve also traveled with people who lose all sense of reason when they are in a foreign environment. I have no answer for it. I know that  I too have a tendency to over react at times when I’m traveling and the realisation makes it easier to counter balance the actuality. We look at situations, events and interpret what other people say and do, according to our own set of past experiences, culture, faith, values, all of which help us form our beliefs about ourselves, about others, and the world in general

That said, it makes me more aware of just where I am, who I am and why I’m in that place.

It’s a valuable lesson and one I could never have in my home environment.

I’ve learned so much over the past few years. It’s an absolute privilege to be able to share my ideas on Textile Art with like minded people all over the world. Its given me a new perspective on all things probable in my life.
