I’ve been struggling with the words to describe the whole event I  call

‘going to Houston’

Just the act of walking across the walkway from the Hilton is an introduction to the amazing things in store for you. For me it lasts for over 10 days and I never tire mentally, probably a little physically.  In the past 9 days I have walked over 90 km.

My experiences have grown each year. They’ve come from naive toddler steps to bold adult strides. Not that these short legs can take a long stride. It’s been a growth of confidence, knowledge,  talent and a willingness to accept. The talent grew from observing and studying the masters of quilting and then saying ‘What if we approached it this way’ There is also a generosity of spirit and the Staff are willing to share, listen  and assist.

So in saying that I believe there is a magic about ‘going to Houston’ and I do my best to encourage every person who loves quilts to attend. I’ve never met anyone who says they didn’t have a wonderful time. I see the same faces year after year.The preparation begins well into the year and the anticipation builds to a final nervous push. I’m lucky to have my PA Miss Roz to help me and this year it went like clockwork.
