Yesterday afternoon I had my first visit to the booths at the International Quilt Festival in Houston. They start at 109 and end at 2948. That’s one heck of a lot of booths to get around and look at. That’s a lot of pounding the red carpet.
The booth below was one of my favorites, but then again I have a passion for hand-woven and dyed fabrics, specially Indigo and YES, I did buy a piece to wear. There is nothing more special than wearing a piece of fabric made with soul, spirit and hard work. The pieces come from different areas in West Africa and are woven on a small loom about 6″ wide and then sewn together. The booth was Vintage Indigo Textiles.
It was Halloween and there were some amazing costumes being worn.
I’m looking for bright, beautiful wool for some projects and this booth fitted the bill
Wooly lady, booth 646 There seems to be a lot of wool for sale right now, however, it’s the brights for me and if I’m going to put a lot of work into the piece I would like to use wool rather than felt for this project.
Who could resist the beautiful threads and ribbons, the colors make my heart skip.

One year I wanted to plan better for the next show, so I actually kept track of the time it took me to see all the booths and exhibits – I didn’t shop, nor linger, I just took a good look at everything I wanted to see. I clocked 17.5 hours to see it all! So the following year I made a smart decision, and stayed for an extra day when I wasn’t teaching…and finally got to see it all!
