How do you select the colors for a realistic quilt?
Now, it could be thread or fabric.
Do you have a special technique?
Well, I’m going to do it again and give away a technique I discovered recently.
This is an app I use on my Ipad. Adobe Capture
Take a look first at the white circles on the top of the photo. Those circles have captured the colors of his hair and the colors are in the rectangles on the left.
Now look where the dots are and then match them to the colors on the palette.
And of course the most difficult, the face.
Then you save it into your library.
So there you go possums…One of the time saving tricks. I’ve been using this to design my color palette. Something I can do as I travel.

I agree with you Prue, thread in particular, but I have been dying my own thread and fabric to match. I’ve not been too successful with the thread, but often students have no idea of color for faces and this does help.

You are such a talented artist. I am enrolled in your craftsy class. After you captured the color, can you use the RGB numbers to find the right color threads? Are there cotton threads out there that uses that coloring system?

Not really. finding colors is difficult, I tend to use Aurifil thread because they have the greatest graduation of colors.
