Empty Spools Quilt Event. – sheer pleasure.

Its 6.41 pm on Friday and I’ve not had time to write a blog for over a week.  My heart and hands just wouldn’t cooperate or should I say coordinate.

I’ve had a limit on the time I’ve had for leisure and luxury and that’s what I need to be able to write the blog. Having to divide my ‘Pam’ time into blocks of ‘things to do’ has been directed mainly into the needs of students and producers with a continual stream of emails from home and indeed the concerns of friends over the tragic illness of our Grandie Baby Jay.

To be able to walk into my room at night, warmed by heat of the furnace and  a blanket of  silence  is comforting and indeed enticing. I leave the heater on, the maid turns it off.  I turn it back on and retire. I’ve been asleep within minutes of laying my head on the pillow during the past week.

I’ve had a wonderful time nevertheless, I’m at Empty spools in California where some 200 ladies and a few men have arrived full of excitement and expectation at learning new techniques in textile art.

Working through an intricate  process with  a group of people who don’t know each other for 5 days is a privilege and a wonderful opportunity to learn something special, something new. Both about ourselves and our craft. By the end of the week we share a special bond.

I’m in good company, most people are around my age, a little older, some younger but I think I’m right in the middle of the age spectrum which puts me in grand company.

A new group arrived today and as I looked around the room I realized that many of the attendees are friends from other events. An honor indeed.

Just finished a class with you Pam at Empty Spools. You are an amazing teacher, a truly good person, and a joy to be around. I don’t know how you coped with the heartache of Baby Jay’s medical situation, the headaches if your production consults and still met and exceeded the expectations of our class. So much respect for you!
