Art, adventures and the lost computer.

The morning began early. I set the alarm for 3.00 am, but woke at 2.00

So, there it was, I figured I might just as well get up and get ready to leave. Everything is prepared well the night before, and I’m still on Australian time zone so I figured It wouldn’t be too much of a problem to get up the hour earlier.

I hate waiting around.

As I write this I”m flying to Phoenix from Los Angeles and then down to El Paso to meet my BFF Miss Lisa.

Who could have imagined that 20 years ago we met online in a Quilting chat room.

Oh, that sounds so archaic. Do they still have those? But there we are… Yes, 20 years of friendship through our love of quilting, travel and our lack of reverence for the norm.

We live at opposite poles of the world and yet we meet yearly to create our special event in Alamogordo NM.

It’s not a personal event, it’s a combined event with a huge group of dedicated volunteers and it embodies the very spirit of a caring community through our love of Quilting. It’s hard to put into words how I feel about this group, but I guess I can only smile and sigh and say “Thank you” for the trust you all place in me.
Thank you to 1st National Bank of Alamogordo and our Princess Miss Rainee Mackewich and her team.

$60,000 has been raised and given to various programs to make the lives of the children of Otero County just a little more easier.

So as I fly in with a smile on my face, and a heart nearly breaking with pride I can’t wait for it all to begin. It’s a crazy week for all of us, Radio, TV. Visits and a laugh a minute. Then again there are five new classes from dear friend Sue Rassmusen and I to share with you all, and you my dear friends make it work.

This year we have our Mexican friends bringing their wonderful exhibition to share with us. 50 vendors have come from near and far and we have the best green chile cheeseburgers in the state on sale.

Really, honestly what more can you ask for.

So the drama of the day amid the excitement of meeting my friends again is that I left my computer in the overhead lockers in the plane. I took it out of my hand luggage because the case had to go in the hold as normal on a small plane.

The computer couldn’t be seen and I was just not tall enough to be reminded that it was there when I left the plane as I do hundreds of times….

I have a location service on it and it is locked and a message to contact me when it’s found. Oh dear… Sleep is hard to come by tonight.

Oh boy, my stomach turns over when I think of that lost computer. I can imagine all the work that you have stored on it. I hope you have a back-up at home? I’m hoping the fairy of lost things is on the job for you.
    Love.

Yes, you know how much I use it. It was my fault… but not my fault that the company is so slack.

  3. Have a wonderful visit and don’t worry about the laptop. Friends are worth so much more. I will hope the a good hearted person will message you in the next few days.

Barbara, I can’t worry about it… but I would like it back.
