It takes guts if you are a Graffiti artist and you come up against a group of quilters of middling age.

Sitting in the kitchen working on my iPad on this lazy Sunday morning. The day began a little later than usual and it was wonderful to wake and think that there was no agenda.
Somehow I think I’m getting a bit old for this stuff.

It was sunny when I woke, but the clouds have slipped quietly over the mountains and are sliding down here into the valley accompanied by loud, rolling thunder.
The rain is hitting the roof and forming into puddles on the bricks and soaking into the dry brown earth.

In the next couple of weeks we have a few exciting adventures planned but to be honest, it’s in the lap of the gods.

I’ve written a lot over the past few days about our event and how it came about so I’m not going to go over it again, but I just want to say that it was a wonderful experience.

There were so many memorable moments… I just had to share the book that my friend Rose brings to class. It holds every class she has done with me, all the notes. all the hand outs etc… I was amazed I need to do that. I think that’s a job for my PA Miss Roz.

And then there was Joe, a young man who loved graffiti and who walked out of class so excited and enthused because he mastered quilt illustration on his thread graffiti piece. He works at the quilt store and I’m going to visit him again when I get back to town. Hugs Joe

So today is wind down and preparation for our next event, a road trip to Utah, taking in the scenery along the way.

I hope to take time to read a little, write a lot and draw everything I can.

There are so many things to see, to create ideas from and to capture. So, I guess the theme is going to be ‘capture and create’ again.

If you are teaching and inspiring young graffiti artists to explore new means of expression, you are definitely *not* “getting a bit old for this stuff.”

I find your photo of Joe incredibly sweet and beautiful — and ditto for your lovely raven painting. You are one seriously talented gal!

We all love him in class, and we love what he is doing.

  2. Good for him! It takes courage to do what you’re interested in if others might disagree with you
