More images from the Houston Quilt Show.

Here at the Houston Quilt Festival, it’s an event of smiles.

50,000 smiles in fact. 50.000 people fly in planes, drive or come in buses to the George Brown Convention Centre in Houston all in the name of Textile Art and if you need to give it a label. “It’s essential Quilting”

There are wonderful featured exhibitions of the most astounding art. You don’t have to be a quilter to appreciate the beauty. I sat at a table tonight with 3 blokes….a Banker, an Accountant and a Broker and to hear their discussion of the quilts as they scrolled through the photos on their wives phones. As we would fondly say in Australia “It was worth bottling”

I hope to make my way down to the floor of the convention centre tomorrow to take photos and make a few precious purchases.

Go into the exhibition and it just buzzes with excitement. I’ve not had a chance to take photos of the swimming quilts… but I did pick most of them and they have been up on this blog.. However, I will do it officially today.

I’ve been burning the candles at both ends and time is limited for anything but my official duties.

Love the pics, keep them coming

  3. Sadly, I’m not one of the 50,000 visiting Houston this year. Hopefully I’ll be there in 2017.
Your beautiful photos are the next best thing.
Thank you, Pam, for sharing your lovely photos and details of each quilter.
    What talent and inspiration!!

  4. You do realize than “Unknown Man” is an exact replica of another artist (Francoise Nielly)’s work, right? Why is this a prizewinner. It is plagiarism, pure and simple.
The other’s original work, is quite amazing. Long, dedicated hours. Beautiful quilts in Houston, but I hope they stop demeaning art quilters by giving prizes to copiers

    1. Pam Holland says:

Phyllis, I wasn’t aware of that until yesterday…. too busy working, the same artist did the same thing a few years ago and won a prize with it too. (evidently)
