It was a really long day yesterday.

I woke with anticipation in the morning and a just a slight concern about the uncertain. I hadn’t traveled on Jetblue before, I’ve never been to Costa Rica and I was unsure of the timing of the events of the day. But you just let the events slide over you and the inevitable happens. The day proceeds like a thread through fabric, weaving and blending all the events to make one.

Our group is delightful, and everything went as planned. I ticked each stage off the list with a smile and great satisfaction.
Our Guide, Oscar was waiting as we left the airport. My observations were that the city was definitely Caribbean with a mix of South American, We’re located between Nicaragua in the North and Panama in the South connected by the Pan-American Highway.

After our flight, we had about a 2 hour journey down to the coast.  The road is exceptionally good and we drove past colorful fruit stalls displaying a huge range of tropical fruit. Then a few hours wait until we caught the ferry to Tango Mar.

While waiting, it wasn’t too long before we found a small cafe and purchased drinks and empanadas. They are made by folding dough or bread with stuffing consisting of a variety of meat, cheese, vegetables, fruits, and others. Ours was Pollo, chicken. Many countries today have their own variations of empanada using different kinds of dough, fillings and secrets.

We walked the foreshore and watched fishermen clean their catch and young men jump off the jetty.

The Ferry is huge and carried, cars, trucks, busses, trucks laden with cows and a lone bull and of course 100’s of people. The music was very loud and I really enjoyed it. Once again it was a combination of caribbean and South American. A young man on deck decide he was the local heartthrob and sang Karaoke style missing almost every note…. but the rest of the music was wonderful and added to the ambience as the sun sank below the sea. It was warm, balmy and the breeze was what one would call a caressing breeze and we all smiled at our good fortune.

I think we were all rather exhausted but elated at being in this wonderful place. One can’t explain what it is like as a Tutor, to immerse yourself in this environment and teach others to ‘see, what I see’ that sound a bit over the top, but basically that is what we are going to do.

We have 3 more nights here in Tango Mar before our cocoon, but one can’t help but begin the process of creating.
