The colors of Guatemala.

I’ve visited Guatemala quite often and each time I do I find interesting things to see.

We don’t stay in Guatemala City, but venture out to the city of Antigua, an hour and a half away from the main city. Antigua is a small city surrounded by volcanoes in southern Guatemala. It’s renowned for its Spanish colonial buildings, many of them restored following a 1773 earthquake that ended Antigua’s 200-year reign as Guatemala’s colonial capital. Notable architectural examples include baroque La Merced, a squat, yellow-and-white church. It’s an integral part of the city’s famous Semana Santa, a holy week with parades and rituals.

The second part of the trip will be to stay at Lake Atitlan at a hotel nestled on the lake. The beauty will take your breath away.

I’m a gal who loves textiles and art and I just want to share the things I’ve experienced with other photographers and Textile Artists.

Keith and I and our wonderful local guide will take great care of you.

We will learn from local weavers and dyers and take time to sit around the pool and work on our ideas.  The quilt below was made from a photo taken on the last trip.

Gorgeous! Guatemalans are beautiful people. Your quilt of the Senora is awesome!
Thanks so much for the pictures,

  3. Oh, I would love to! I love Guatemala. And my favourite shirt is approaching worn out, so I need a replacement… Looking at your video started an internal movie, so at the moment I’m walking through the market in Panajachel, and then I’m in Chichicastenango before Antigua and a nice liquado in Café Condesa. Going there with an artist as guide would be absolutely fantstic. Lucky those who can come!
