Designing.

I’m in the design process.

Did it begin today?

No, it began when I took the photo in India a month ago and it’s been floating around in my mind and popping into my mind for short periods of time in the past few weeks.

The story teller.

Sometimes when I take an image, I know almost instantly that I’m going to create a piece of Textile art from that image. I’m always quite certain, I make the decision and rarely waver from it and then it becomes a project.

I think the emotion I felt at the time I  took the photo has a great deal to do with it.   It’s the color and  the ambience of the situation I find myself in.

You may think I’m strange, but when I talk about ambience, but it’s a large part of my designing.  I mean the chanting in the temple behind me, the smell of the incense and the demeanour of the crowd around me.

Sometimes I audition by creating  a sketch.

But it wasn’t what I wanted. It’s nice, but not what I was thinking of.

So I’ve begun and over the next few weeks, I’ll share the ideas and process.

Thanks for sharing the process; this intrigues me. I know from taking your class, that you use some software to help in the process. Did you use sketch to help with this drawing? Also, have you been able to use DreamScope lately. I find it doesn’t work. Wondering if they are now requiring the subscription. Love your photos.
