I’ve spent all day in the studio today.
I finished a Textile Art piece I’ve been working on.

I am following the Textileart.org Stitch Club and jumping out of my personal space and doing different things.

I don’t do all of the things offered, but I’ve found it most interesting.
The piece I completed is a creative stitch exercise by Merill Comeau, and I decided to copy a painting I bought in St Martin in the Caribbean many years ago. I’ve always loved the picture, but it needed to be brighter.
“Can I create my own image but in fabric.”?

Now that it’s finished. I say, yes I can.

I searched my stash for fabric.

I made a few drawings.

Some pieces I had to ad colour to, and for this I used Derwent Inktense blocks.

I flipped the background fabric over to the front to form the border. It was very forgiving.

Thread is Aurifil 50 weight, and most of the stitch is free motion Zig Zag. I used pigment ink on white fabric for the vase. It was fun to do. I just didn’t need to be precise. It’s not a masterpiece, but an exercise.

Then I felt the need for some dyed cheesecloth for the next project.
