Back to the blog.

I haven’t blogged for such a long time; I have to admit I use my two FB accounts and Instagram most of the time.

But it’s time to change things a little.

First of all, I’m thrilled to share that I was the 2022 Rajah award winner.

Now just what is the Rajah Award, you say?

It’s an award made by Expertise Events at the annual Australasian Quilt Convention and which “acknowledges an outstanding contribution to quilting in Australia, whether it be a contribution as a quilting teacher, designer, author, historian, guild worker, retailer, etc or a combination of work in several of these areas. This award is called the ‘Rajah Award’ in tribute to the historic Rajah quilt made by convict women en route to Australia in 1841.”

I was half way around the world in Morocco. It seems my husband was trying to contact me and I was walking the pavements of Marrakech, he had a lot of pressure on him to find me. I just thought he was being a bit overprotective.

My FB post.

“I just got back to my room after touring and teaching today to find I won the Rajah Award in Australia.

I‘m gobsmacked, to say the least, and with no internet I was out of the loop

Tears flowing folks.

Now Home, FB post 2 weeks ago.

“I left the USA a week ago today, and I’m only just getting back into everyday life.

Today, with bated breath, I unpacked the beautiful Rajah Award.

Honestly, I can’t express how honoured I am to receive this prestigious award; It means more than you could ever imagine.

Thank you for the honour and belief in me.

So, I’ll add a few images of Morocco.

I’ll follow up with a blog on Morocco and the upcoming tours.

Right now, I’m working up a storm in the Studio with projects on every table and if you know me, you will understand that each one is a different genre.

But this small introduction to the Rajah Award is my recognition of the honour bestowed on me.

    Pam,
Congratulations on the Rajah Award! You contribute not only to Australian quilting, but to quilting worldwide.

Looking at your pics of Morocco, is there any significance to that brilliant blue color on a lot of the buildings?

    1. Pam Holland says:

Thank you so much, I was surprised to get the award, but ultimately I feel very honoured. I was given three reasons for the blue, no one really knows. Some say it keeps the buildings cool in the heat of summer, others said it was for religious reasons. So I still don’t know.
