It's late, I'm exhausted, but I've just returned from the Gala dinner at the Festival of Quilts…
Sue Nickels and Pat Holly from Michigan won Best of Show…. I was so excited….
Lisa Walton and Nic Bridges also won a group Quilt award as did Helen Godden….
Just super ladies….
Jenny Bowker also has a lovey display of her quilts.
10,000 visitors attended the show today….and I've been on the go all day.
I filmed and kept bumping into people I knew…Students from South Africa, America, England, USA…… it always happens at Houston and the other shows, but I was surprised to meet so many people here.
I gave a presentation today, now Master class for the next two days….
LQuilt was launched today and it's taken off beyond all expectations. It's new and innovative….
Many of the quilts here are informal, novel, unusual and innovative.
I anticipated that it would be that way. There is a lot of surface design, mixed media and whole cloth quilted design.
I think this is a woolen quilt.
Great color sense and expression. Alison Muir (Oil on troubled water)
The booths are wonderful, 100's of them and many of them are different genre's to any I've seen before. I didn't have time to explore, but have made a mental note to go back and visit on Sunday.
This quilt really took my fancy today…
Now to bed and an early morning…..!!!
Oh I love this quilt too!
those roofs are amazing, love the windmill.
OH the picture of all the little quilts on the wall is beautiful
the colors are awesome
I do LOVE the quilt by Sue Nickels and Pat HOlly
I hope you can share a picture of the quilt hanging at the show.
as always love reading your blog and seeing different parts of the world thru your eyes
