This was our last day of historic sight seeing and we visited the river Jordan where it has been said Jesus was baptized.

The site has been authenticated by all major Christian Church leaders  as one of the three holiest sites of Christianity, along with Bethlehem and Jerusalem.
John the Baptist lived here for about 20 years. He resided in a cave on Elijah's Hill.

The historical side of the tour interested me. However a Russian couple on the bus took it further, they changed into white robes and were baptized in the river….

I didn't take photos because it was a personal journey for both of them.

We were in no mans land, a thin strip of land next to the River Jordan. Across the river, (just a few meters) was Israel and a service was being conducted by a priest.

Jericho in Israel was within sight but not recognized by our Guide a part of Israel

It's hard for us to comprehend the differences in the cultures and there are bullet holes visible to prove it.

As for the religious side. I don't know. All I can say is I note with interest the sites shown to me.

It was cold today and I really wasn't prepared for the change in weather.

I was disappointed because it rained a little during our visit to Jerash.

Our guide was wonderful and his explanations of evidence of an ancient a city built 2500BC on this site was a revelation.

To walk on cobblestones set in AD 65 where the ruts from the chariots and carts are evident and  to be dwarfed by the most intriguing architecture was more than I imagined from a tour.

Now I can digest it all an I will work on some designs for the "D" book.
