Babies and Birthdays

I'm absolutely exhausted. Babies, Birthdays, and a huge family dinner have left me prone on the easy chair. I get caught up in the activities with the grandies… So no sewing today… I had planned to do a woven watercolor but that will have to wait till tomorrow…. and I really want to get back…

The quilt is finished.

I've finished this small Quail quilt. You may wonder why Quail…? well, I think they are funny, and I see them every time I'm in New Mexico. They scurry through the undergrowth with their babies following behind them… their little legs going ninety to the dozen. Once again we are having an event in Alamogordo…

We are Australian.

Good morning, I'm out here in the shed with the HEATER and a sweater on… can you imagine, but it promises to be a beautiful day. As a proud Aussie…. and considering what our country has been through in the past few weeks…I think this might bring a tear to your eye.

What does the morning bring.

Strong coffee in hand, listening to Spanish music very loudly. Designing a wrought iron balustrade for a 9 story building….   (not too shabby for a quilter) Finishing the Logo for our new Hotel Spa, College and Gallery.

A day in the life of a quilter.

No sewing today… lots of illustration for a specific project.. A baby in the studio on my desk as I work Babies in the house. Then switch tack and have a business lunch and work out some very exciting things for the future. So stay tuned.

When I'm at home, my morning resume begins early. With coffee made and the first sip tantalising and promising the comfort of breakfast. I open up my Ipad and it props in front of me while I eat my toast. In a short time, I can view the most amazing photos online from photographers around…

Street work Quilting 3.

I've been  quilting all day…. I finished the  appliques. I used a smoke mono filament thread and a small zig zag.  I'm undecided about adding more thread illustration to the appliques…. I may leave them as they are. I have to leave it for a few days now… and work on a few other projects….

Street work quilting. 2.

I've prepared the bobbins… lots of them…..I'm using several colors of grey.   More illustrations of quilting.. It makes it easier to work the designs out on paper prior to stitching it. I'm trying to achieve an urban effect. Similar to the ambience of the video. I think you can see where the ideas come…

Another potential disaster.

The world is crazy Gunga Din.   It's cooler today and we wake to find that a huge cyclone  is about to hit the top right hand side of Australia…. Cyclone Yasi (category 5) is 500 kms wide and bearing down on the coast of Northern Queensland with winds of up to 300 kms an…
