3 Kookaburras Laughing.

Pre- travel, it was a game each year to see who could find the presents… and it was no mean feat hiding presents for 13+
Forget under the bed, in the wardrobe or even the garage…. often it was a locked cellar, the ceiling cavity or even the friends and neighbors houses….
But then again, their kids would dob….

The 2nd day of Christmas.

We didn’t get invited to relatives or even our parents houses for Christmas with our troops.
Its not that they were badly behaved, to be honest they were more polite than most, but the sheer number put the fear of dread into the most staunch of family members.

I’m a Quilter, a Mum and a tour leader.

As I step off the plane, I have to morph into the home Pam Holland. Wife, Mother, Cleaner, Chef and leave the other persona behind. To be honest no one at home understood. In the early days some Bambinos were known to have asked me “Mum whats for dinner” a few hours after I arrived.!!!

We are friends.

“There’s a marked difference between acquaintances and friends. Most people really don’t become friends. They become deep and serious acquaintances. But in a friendship you get to know the spirit of another person; and your values coincide. Friends may disagree, but not about serious matters. A friend will stand for you when you are no longer able. A woman can say to herself, If I die, I know that my friend, my sister friend will be here to hold up the banner. Now that’s very profound.”

Christmas Carols, Color and crafts.

I’ve been home just a week and I make no bones about the fact that its been a bit of a struggle. Physically mainly, but almost 70 days of being responsible for a large number of people. Using my brain to the max and doing the very best I can takes its toll.

Now, we have a wedding in the garden in just two days and the preparations have been under way all week. Now I can enjoy the ambience, prepare for Christmas and summer.
