Kaye England and I were lucky enough to be able to take a trip in an Amish buggy with Mr Yoder. It was a rare experience and one I will never forget. He was a delightful man and he is so proud and matter of fact about his Amish life and Shipshewana.

Take a tour with me in Shipshewana – Enjoy the spectacular quilts and the ambience.
Its taken me a week to be able to get the photos of Shipshewana up on the blog. So here they are.  Kaye and I visited Rebecca Haarer Arts and Antiques. It’s a wonderful store, with so much to see. The heart beat a little faster. This is a stunningly beautiful Amish quilt. It was exciting to see…
Peach and Jalapeño jelly. – Oh my – then on to the Quilted Gardens.
The store is friendly, homely and you are welcomed with a smile and a free coffee, I think our breakfast of a savory muffin and a coffee scroll cost just under $5.00 for the two of us. We perched on high chairs like two budgies and laughed through breakfast.
Quilt Barns – of Old Mission Peninsula.
Its rather difficult to photograph the barns, some of them are a distance off the road and then of course there really isn’t anywhere to safely park the car. This barn was set on a hill of white spring daisies. I stopped by the mailboxes and walked to the road to get my shot. In the mean time, I was observed by a group of goats on the opposite side of the road, they ran up to the fence and gave me a ‘goat stare’ and an occasional bleat. I talked to them.
Vintage and Antique, quilts and textiles. – Capture and create.
Visiting an antique mall is more than that, I’m looking for colors and patterns and I just use my camera. This dress below is a 30’s dress. I love the free, and the combination of colors in the pattern.
Capture and Create.
Repetition creates a pattern, which consequently and naturally grabs our attention at first and then creates the comfort of familiarity. I used the Andy Warhol theory and then of course Kaffe did one with bowls in each block.
Gardens, and Musings.
I’ve just stepped out of the shower and it’s the place I do my best musing. First of all the tiles in shower are sage/mint green that was popular in the 60’s. Its like stepping back into another age. But its a bit quaint. I did however, buy a new pillow to sleep on and I tucked away the bedding other than the sheets and slept under my own quilt last night. Its not too bad, I don’t like those polyester quilt covers and blankets in hotels. I don’t know what sort of history it has. At least with a crisp white doona cover, you can tell if its pristine. I sure know my quilt is.
Street photography, – New York
I love New York… just take the camera and capture the images.
Alice Isabella goes to the quilt show – read it to your Grandies.
Alice Isabella is a tiny lady of undermined age who lives in a note book in my hand bag.
Sometimes she sleeps a lot, but she does enjoy traveling with me.
Today she was so excited because we were going to Cincinnati (sit-on-the-matty) to the quilt show.
She has been waiting a very long time to go and she was really, really excited.
She has her bags full of interesting things… her clothes, magazines in case she gets bored, and 20 cheese sandwiches wrapped in brown paper just in case she gets hungry or just in case no one feeds her or – just in case.
What happened to Alice Isabella?
I began writing stories for the Grandies a long time ago. I can’t be home to share stories with them so a I write them a story as I travel. For a few years I had a  friend called Alice Isabella and she lives in my note book.  She  became quite famous a while ago and…
