I needed to sit and write this afternoon. I’ve had to make a huge decision today and sometimes just the act of writing or drawing takes me to a place where I can touch my childhood and all is well with the world.
We look at situations, events and interpret what other people say and do, according to our own set of past experiences, culture, faith, values, all of which help us form our beliefs about ourselves, about others, and the world in general
I’m not a photographic purist. I just love taking photos. From the drips on a coffee cup to the textures in wood and beyond, I find it interesting. I know some of my friends look at me a little strange when I suddenly become pre-occupied in the midst of a conversation and I turn my head to capture just the right image…then out comes the camera.!!
Friend Lisa and I attended an exhibition of contemporary Fibre Art at the Capitol Rotunda Art Gallery presented by The Studio Art Quilt Associates of New Mexico.
To the casual stroller of the streets, it’s a town of culture, its colorful and full of interest, each turn is carefully sculptured for both the visual delight and of course lets not be coy… they love to receive the contents of your pocket. I’ve never seen so many galleries in one place in my entire travels. There are over 300 galleries in this one small enclave.
My friend Lisa and I are in Santa Fe, New Mexico for a rare 3 days of R&R. Its impossible not to be influenced by the color and ambience of this town. Its hot and almost mid summer, and I’m reminded that this time next week, it will be a little grey and very cold in my home town of Aldgate.
No, it’s not how to take a super photograph with all the bells and whistles, It’s a down to earth look at how to take an image and use it to create a piece of Textile art.
I have a rather romantic take on life. The good times are carefully filtered through my bright rimmed glasses.
The bad, and the sad (and there have been many) are filed in boxes in my mind and are dealt with in their own time.
But whatever our circumstances I know that we can all make a difference in the lives of others by sharing our talents for kind rather than money.
The store is friendly, homely and you are welcomed with a smile and a free coffee, I think our breakfast of a savory muffin and a coffee scroll cost just under $5.00 for the two of us. We perched on high chairs like two budgies and laughed through breakfast.
